Agartala: Mar 24: A function was held at NTI hall in IGM Hospital on Wednesday on the occasion of World Tuberculosis Day. The three-day program to provide covid vaccine to the elderly was also started on this day.
While inaugurating the program, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb said that Tripura is in a special place in curing Covid. Oppositions are trying to confuse people by propaganda about Covid. But awareness is growing among the people.
It is seen that the elderly are more affected by Corona, so the state health department has taken special initiative to bring the elderly under the vaccine to protect them from Corona.
Initiatives have been taken to provide vaccines to four lakh people above the age of 60 years, special camps have taken the initiative to do so in hospitals. Therefore, the Chief Minister called upon all, including the people’s representatives and clubs, to cooperate in bringing those elderly people under the vaccine.
He added that in 2016, 54 per cent of the people in Tripura were infected with worms. After Sikkim, Tripura ranks second among the states for Tuberculosis cuer with a population of 50 lakh in 2019. It has come as a great success for the state, in the success of the efforts of health workers.
Meanwhile, National Health Mission State Director Siddhartha Shiv Jaiswal said that more than three lakh people are dying every day due to TB. So the central government has decided to eradicate tuberculosis by 2025.
He said that the treatment of tuberculosis is free of cost in the entire state. Therefore, takes ccare of the disease on time without any negligence.
