TIPRA Motha filed a writ petition seeking re-poll in 70 polling booths

Agartala: Apr 09: The TIPRA Motha led by Maharaja Pradyot Kishore Deb Barman has moved to the High Court seeking re-poll in 70 polling booths where the poll to Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) is held on April 6.

Addressing media persons at Agartala on Friday, TIPRA Motha general secretary Animesh Debbarma said they submitted a petition to the Election Commission to arrange re-polling alleging rigging in various booths on the polling day.

He said, “Despite we had sought the intervention, the Election Commission has not taken any action. So we have moved the High Court regarding the matter and demand re-poll in nearly 70 polling booths in various constituencies under Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC).”

Meanwhile, Mr. Debbarma has demanded the election commission to ensure free and fare counting of the poll scheduled to be held on April 10.Earlier, apart from TIPRA Motha, the CPI(M) and Congress also alleged of poll rigging and demanded the election commission for re-poll.
