Agartala: Oct 12: Justice Indrajit Mohanty was sworn as the sixth Chief Justice of the Tripura High Court at Raj Bhavan on Saturday morning. Governor Satyadeva Narayan Arya administered the oath of office at the palace on that day. Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Debbarma, Union Minister of State Pratima Bhoumik, Minister Ratan Lal Nath, Minister Mewar Kumar Jamatia, Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Ratan Chakraborty, Chief Secretary Kumar Alok and Director General of State Police were present at the swearing in ceremony.
On Monday afternoon, Chief Justice Indrajit Mohanty flew from Rajasthan to Tripura with his wife Rabita Mohanty and family members. He was the Chief Justice of the Rajasthan High Court. He has previously served as a judge of the Mumbai High Court. The newly appointed Chief Justice was born in Cuttack, Odissa. He was completed his higher education from Cambridge University. After taking oath, the newly appointed Chief Justice of Tripura High Court Indrajith Mohanty got acquainted with the present members of the Cabinet and the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly along with the Union Minister.
Mohanty later told reporters that the state’s big festival Durgotsab is currently underway and at this time he took charge as the Chief Justice of the Tripura High Court with the blessings of Goddess Durga. He got an opportunity to work for the people of Tripura. The people of Tripura will judge the next time how much they have to give in their working life.
