Four district under 144: Post poll violence

Agartala: Apr 11. Post-poll violence has plunged Tripura into disarray as more than hundreds of BJP and IPFT supporters have come under attack since the results of the ADC elections were declared on Saturday.

At least four district administration including the West Tripura, Gomati, Sepahijala, Dhalai and South Tripura district magistrates have impose the prohibitory order under Section-144 to avert any law and order situation.

The BJP which stormed into power with landslide victory in the 2018 state general assembly elections had to face defeat against the newly floated TIPRA Motha led by the royal scion Pradyot Kishore Deb Barman.

The ruling BJP has alleged that since the announcement of the results the party office and houses of the BJP supporters have come under attack and many of them had to take shelter in safe place.

In Belonia sub-division, the party office of the Ratanpur BJP office was vandalized by the miscreants backed by the TIPRA Motha alleged Hrishyamukh Mandal president Asesh Baidya.

The TIPRA Motha candidate had won the election from Purba Muhuripur seat against the BJP backed IPFT candidate.

It is also worthy to mention that since the announcement of candidates, there was infighting among the people centering the selection of candidates.He also said that TIPRA backed IPFT people are doing the actions.

In Khowai district, similar allegation have been made by BJP vice-president Rajib Bhattacharya, while he was accompanied by Chief Whip Kalyani Roy and MLA Pinaki Das Chowdhury in visited several places.

Meanwhile, on Sunday, a delegation of the IPFT, including state forest minister Mevar Kumar Jamatia and BJP IPFT alliance candidate Geeta Debbarma, visited the affected areas in Maharani under Teliamura sub-division.

The delegation first visited the Manik Bazar area to inspect the IPFT North Gokulnagar Regional Office and spoke to activists and supporters, and inquired about how the office was reduced to ashes by election terrorism.

The minister Mevar Kumar Jamatia visited three shops which were reduced to ashes in the fire incident reported adjacent to Mungiakami Class XII School.
